  7 Day Budget Tour of Denmark: Itinerary

Morning arrival in Copenhagen from your home city or elsewhere. Meet tour manager.  Board coach at Kastrup Airport Terminal and proceed to catamaran ferry across the Kattegat Sea directly to Ebeltoft.  Check in to DanHostel or Ebeltoft Strand Hotel for overnight(2).  Rest of day on your own.  Dinner at Danhostel for those on DANHOSTEL program. Independant dinner for those on full service hotel program

Guided orientation walking tour of city with a break for independant lunch.  This tour include visits aboard the wooden battle frigat Jylland old city hall museum, Farvergaarden museum and the Glass Art museum.  Dinner at DanHostel for those on the hostel program. Independent dinner for hotel guests.  Rest of evening at leisure.

Coach departure and first visit is Kaløcastle ruin for some hiking on the old causeway.  Independant lunch enroute. Proceed through city of Århus and the lake country of Skanderborg to Kolding and a visit to Koldinghus Castle.  Then across Lillebelt Strait to island of Fyn and the old maritime town of Svendborg.  Check in to DanHostel for overnight(1). Dinner at DanHostel. Independent dinner for hotel guests.  Rest of evening free.

A leisurely morning trip to island of Tåsinge where the rest of the morning is spent visiting Valdemars Castle.  After an independant lunch we continue on the coach to Kværndrup village and spend the afternoon at Egeskov Castle.Then toward Odense with a brief visit to Carl Nielsens birthplace at Nr.Lyndelse.  Check in to DanHostel - dinner. Independent dinner for hotel guests.  

Morning guided orientation walking tour of central Odense.  This tour include visits to Hans Christian Andersens museum centre, Carl Nielsens museum, Møntergården museum and a river launch to the Old Village, Fynske Landsby. Independent lunch break enroute.  Dinner at DanHostel and rest of evening free. Independent dinner for hotel guests.

Morning coach departure to Copenhagen with enroute stops.  First at Ladby to visit the viking chief's ship and later at Roskilde to see several viking ships, new and old.  Also visit Domkirken, the cathedral housing the tombs of Danish royalty.  Check in to DanHostel Bellahøj. Dinner. Independent dinner for hotel guests.  Rest of evening at leisure to visit Tivoli Gardens and / or Strøget, the pedestrian streets in city center.

Early morning our coach take us north on the costal road out of Copenhagen, but with a brief stop at the Little Mermaid statue and Gedions fountain statue.  Next stop is Humlebæk for a brief visit at Karen Blixens house at Rungsted and a little further along the Øresund Belt we make a leisurely independant lunch stop at Humlebæk to explore Luisiana Museum of Modern Art.  Take in the current exhibition of an international name or relax in the gardens among Henry Moore statues and many other works of art and enjoy the view of Sweden, across the Belt.  A little further up the coast we come to Helsingør and the renowned Kronborg Castle of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark fame.  At leisure to explore the awesome interiors including the once gruesome subterranean casemats.  Farewell dinner (both Hostel and hotel guests) at Kystens Perle Restaurant on the coast back toward Copenhagen. Overnight at DanHostel or hotel.

After breakfast transfer to Kastrup Airport for flight home, or an extended stay in Denmark.   Back
